About this deal

The lens was originally developed for scientific research applications such as brightness measurement and architectural illumination.

While the lenses themselves all support autofocus, there are some combinations of camera body and lens that won’t support autofocus. An example us putting the 10.5mm on a Nikon D3500. The lens will work, but it will have to be focused manually. [ ↩] Of these, the OP Fisheye-Nikkor 10mm f/5.6 (called the OP Fisheye below) was released in 1968 as the fourth fisheye lens from Nikon, following the 7.5mm f/5.6. Fisheye lenses provide photographers with a greater depth of field, enabling them to capture sweeping landscapes. The sharpness and image quality also remains incredibly consistent, while including interesting foreground elements at the same time. Creative and Unique Images Meanwhile, the diagonal fisheye effect creates an extremely distorted view and offers a diagonal angle of view of approximately 180 degrees. Also called a full-frame fisheye effect, the captured image covers the frame completely. Lens Flare Along with creating surreal images and capturing stunning landscapes, some other advantages of this model include: Clear ImagesThe front aspherical lens of the OP Fisheye, as evident from Fig. 3. and the photo of OP Fisheye-Nikkor 10mm f/5.6, are visibly aspherical. Oct 4: If you shoot with a Ricoh GR camera, whether film or digital, Pentax/Ricoh have announced the 2023 GR Photo Festival 2023. You can find information about entering it here. Fisheye lenses are of two types – circular fisheyes and full-field diagonal fisheyes. Diagonal fisheyes create an image circle that covers the image sensor completely, resulting in an image that has a full-sized, regular, rectangular shape. With orthographic projection lenses, the area occupied by the plane source in the image is proportional to its brightness at the object.

Here are some shots I’ve taken with this lens, and you can find my detailed hands-on review here. I took this photo with a Nikon AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED fisheye zoom lens on a Nikon D850 @ 15 mm and ƒ / 4.5. I took this photo with a Nikon AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED fisheye zoom lens on a Nikon D850 @ 8 mm and ƒ / 5.6. I took this photo with a Nikon AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED fisheye zoom lens on a Nikon D850 @ 15 mm and ƒ / 4.5. I took this photo with a Nikon AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED fisheye zoom lens on a Nikon D850 @ 15 mm and ƒ / 5.6.It was at that moment that a fisheye lens with which emphasis was placed on performance at close distances was born. VI. Actual performance with sample images If slightly softer rendering is desired at the frame peripheries, users should probably try an aperture setting of f/2.8 to f/4. The basic lens composition of the OP Fisheye is the same as the 7.5mm f/5.6, but a large-diameter aspherical front lens is used to achieve orthographic projection.

If you need an affordable diagonal fisheye lens, then the Sigma is a perfect choice. Designed with a gel filter holder, the unit is ideal for filmmakers who experience difficulty with high native ISOs. It can also be used for wedding photography to give a more artistic look, scenic photography, and underwater photography. An ultra-wide-angle lens that creates an extremely wide panoramic view, fisheyes have plenty of visual distortion. To put this unit to good use, it’s essential that you fully understand its strengths and weaknesses. Pros Being one of the best fisheyes available today, the NIKKOR 10.5MM stands out to us for several different reasons. Firstly, the ED glass element reduces chromatic aberration, ensuring natural, clear colors, while the rounded 7-blade diaphragm makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural. Secondly, the unit is extremely easy and comfortable to use. Lastly, the Close-Range Correction system delivers exceptional performance when capturing up-close shots. This resulted in the full-frame fisheye lens, which was developed with less emphasis on scientific applications and more on photographic applications. The Fish-eye-Takumar 18mm f/11, released by Asahi Optical Co., Ltd. in 1963, was the first full-frame fisheye lens. The release of this lens led other manufacturers to also develop and release full-frame fisheye lenses. Fully prepared, Nikon, which came to offer the most fisheye lenses, finally released the full-frame fisheye Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/3.5. Nikon's history with full-frame fisheye lenses then continues to the AF Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D. III. Development history and the designer Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy. Resolution at the edges of the frame is increased. A satisfactory level of sharpness is achieved throughout nearly the entire frame. This range of aperture settings seems best for regular use. f/16 to f/22 Not to brag, but I designed the Ai AF Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D when I was just 28 years old. At that time, I became interested in the depth of fisheye lenses, and was put in charge of development of the lens with the switch to AF.
